Texas Stars Give Back

We are honored to receive a grant from the Texas Stars Foundation in support of TEXAS YES’ commitment to closing the gap for educational equality through the support of Title 1 students. Paul Harris, Community Relations and Foundations Manager for the Texas Stars Hockey Club, shares the reasons why they’ve chosen to partner with TEXAS YES.

The Texas Stars Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the community through various forms of support including financial contributions, gifts in kind and volunteerism. Formed in the summer of 2010, the Texas Stars Foundation is the official charity of the Texas Stars Hockey Club. Texas Stars players, staff, and mascot Ringo, make numerous community appearances at businesses. The Texas Stars Foundation is proudly presented by Tom and Cecilia MacKay.

Q: Can you share the experience your team had unveiling with the “Box of Dreams” program and why local events like these are so important to the community?

  1. It was extremely heartwarming to support the Box of Dreams program this year. We brought our mascot and staff out to a title 1 school to distribute school supplies to students in need. This went so well that we wanted to play a larger role in next year’s program, thus approving a grant to be the notebook provider for 10,000 kits next year! We are looking forward to the distribution process. It’s important that these families, who may be struggling financially, are aware that the community is doing their best to support them and give their kids the same opportunity as other students.

Q: What message would you like to share to the community and students?

  1. TEXAS YES aligns with our mission and values and works hard to make central Texas a better place. I’d like to share with everyone that the Texas Stars and the Foundation are here to provide support to those in need in any possible way. Past support that we have given includes floor hockey programs, mascot visits, grant distributions, auction items, free tickets to those less fortunate, etc. We want to be known as a community first organization.

Q: Moving forward, what are you excited to see from TEXAS YES in the future?

  1. Our team is excited to see the Box of Dreams program continue to grow and reach more schools and students! We are looking forward to expanding our partnership for years to come.

ABOUT TEXAS YES:
