TEXAS YES Project Unveils New Little Lockers Impacting Over 4,000 Students

The TEXAS YES Project team is proud to announce the unveiling of several inaugural Little Lockers across Texas. With the help of our generous sponsors: Cheniere Energy, Greater Texas Credit Union, and Commercial Metals Company, we established eight new Little Lockers in Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, and Austin communities.

The Little Locker Project continues its mission to create educational equality and provide greater access to literacy in Texas communities who need it most. Each locker is fully stocked with a variety of books, arts and crafts for students to utilize during spring break, summer, and winter break. Sparking curiosity and excitement in young students, the Little Locker Project is dedicated to providing interactive educational opportunities for elementary and middle school students in Texas.

Colette Walls, Manager of Local Government and Community Affairs at Cheniere Energy, expresses her inspiration for supporting the expansion of Little Lockers.

“I am proud to sponsor the Little Locker Project,” said Walls. “We hope the ‘Little’ bit of help makes a big impact in our local South Texas community and provides every child with vital literacy opportunities.”

As a result of the newly established Little Lockers, a total of 4,279 students will be able to access books and educationally stimulating activities, including 1,786 in Gregory Portland ISD, 1,098 in Fort Worth ISD, and 1,395 in Manor ISD.

When students were asked why they were excited to have a Little Locker at their school, the overwhelming response was an eagerness to explore new stories and their passion for reading.

“I feel very happy to have a locker because then I can borrow books I may have never read before,” said Natalie Andrade, a fourth-grade student at Seminary Hills Park Elementary.

The Little Locker Project has truly made a difference in the lives of thousands of students. As we look to the future, we can only imagine the positive impact that will continue to be made.
