Prepping for Success: FREE Back to School Events in Texas
As the new school year approaches, we are excited to share some free back-to-school events happening around Texas. These events offer free haircuts, essential school supplies, and access to free healthcare services. TEXAS YES proudly serves multiple markets, including San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Corpus Christi, and we’ve created a list of fantastic opportunities available in each of these areas.
San Antonio
Alamo College Westside Educational Training Center (WETC) will be hosting their 2023 GPCO Health Fair & Back-2-School Event on Saturday, July 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 610 SW 41st Street. The services they will be providing include FREE health screening, FREE backpacks with school supplies, FREE food distribution, and community and healthcare resources. Register here!
Located at Wonderland of the Americas and hosted by Makes Centz, this pop-up market Back to School event will be on Saturday, August 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 4522 Fredericksburg. There will be FREE school supplies, FREE backpack giveaway/raffles, and FREE doorbusters while supplies last! We recommend getting there as early as possible.
Austin
Join Rebels for Humanity for their 3rd Annual Community Back to School Drive at Pflugerville Community Church. The event will be on Saturday, August 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1214 Pfennig Lane, Pflugerville, TX. Students will receive FREE backpacks filled with school supplies, FREE books, FREE socks, FREE toothbrushes and toothpaste, FREE bus passes, FREE haircuts, and FREE food! Reserve your spot here.
Organized by Texas Shoppers Market, the San Marcos Back to School Shopping Bash is August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Tanger Outlets San Marcos at I-35 S Interstate 35 4015, San Marcos, TX. There will be local vendor giveaways, grand prize raffle drawings, face painting, and FREE school supplies for the first 100 shoppers. We recommend getting there before 10:00 a.m. to increase your chances of getting FREE school supplies!

Jordan’s Safe Place will be hosting a Back to School/Mental Health Event on Saturday, August 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 9300 Decker Ln, Austin, TX. This event will provide mental health education, FREE school supplies, FREE haircuts, FREE food, and FREE raffles. Register here.
Dallas
Helen’s Project Outreach Center is hosting their 14th Annual Back to School event on Saturday, July 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 3939 S Polk St Ste, 212, Dallas, TX. Activities will include FREE face painting, FREE water balloon fights, FREE concessions, FREE school supplies for students and FREE food for the family! Register here.
Join Faith Restore for their 3rd Annual Ledbetter West Dallas Back to School Bash at Jaycee Zaragoza Recreation Center. This event will take place on Saturday, August 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 3114 Clymer St, Dallas, TX. Students can receive a FREE backpack, FREE school supplies, FREE haircuts, and FREE hotdogs. All you need to do is register them here.
On Saturday, August 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Theta Alpha Chapter will be hosting their annual Back to School Backpack and School Supply Giveaway. The event will happen at the Theta Alpha Foundation House located at 2413 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Dallas, TX. The fraternity will be providing students with FREE school supplies, FREE backpacks, FREE haircuts, and FREE food. Just register here!
Corpus Christi
Texas A&M University Corpus Christi is hosting their Back to School Event both Tuesday & Wednesday, July 25 & 26. The event will be at the Antonio E. Garcia Arts & Education Center, 2021 Agnes St, Corpus Christi, TX. The university will be giving out FREE backpacks with FREE school supplies, FREE haircuts, and FREE immunizations. They will begin taking RSVPs soon, so visit their website or social to see when those open up.
Target Circle
TEXAS YES has been selected to participate in this month’s Target Circle Program, and we’re reaching out to you for support! As one of the chosen local nonprofits, we have a new opportunity to make a difference.
