Thomas J. Henry Helps Thousands of Texas Elementary Students Receive Free School Supplies
Back to school season can be a difficult and stressful time for many parents, especially when it comes to costs associated with school supplies. That’s why we have created a list of back to school events across Texas that families can attend to obtain FREE school supplies, enjoy family-friendly activities, and FREE mental and physical health services. Read on to learn all about upcoming back to school events in your area!
When: Saturday, July 27th from 10:00am – 2:00pm
Where: San Antonio College Loftin Student Center
Details: Presented by Black Student Association, Chrysalis Ministries, and A Fresh Foundation, this Back to School Fair is a free event open to the public! The event is sponsored by Alamo City Barber College, Chick-fil-A, H-E-B, and Target. There will be entertainment, food, school supplies, haircuts, giveaways and more. The first 100 RSVPs will receive a Chick-fil-A gift card. RSVP today!
When: Saturday, August 3rd from 11:00am – 1:00pm
Where: Empower House – 801 N. Olive St, San Antonio, TX
Details: This Back to School Fair is offering free vaccinations, school supplies (while they last), free haircuts, guest appearances from McGruff the Crime Dog, raffles, sensory support from Autism Society, and more! Where: Monte Viejo Park – 4011 Emory Oak Dr, San Antonio, TX 78223
Details: Monte Viejo Community is hosting a Back to School Bash to help students start their school year off on the right foot. Thanks to their amazing sponsors, they will be providing free school supplies and backpacks to students. There will be tons of local San Antonio businesses at the event who will offer food, supplies, and other educational resources.

Where: Greater Calvary Bible Church – 6510 Berkman Dr, Austin, TX 78723
Details: This free event is open to the public for families to attend! The Greater Calvary Bible Church will be giving students free backpacks and school supplies, free BBQ (for kids 17 and under), free haircuts (ages 5-10), free braided hairstyles (up to age 10), and a bouncehouse. Details: Hosted by Jordan’s Safe Place, this free event will be all about self-care and supporting each other during the upcoming school year! There will be free fun activities, workshops, community support, free school supplies, free haircuts and braiding, food, games, and prizes. Register here!

Where: Mission Possible – 1190 Chicon St, Austin, TX 78702
Details: This free community event hosted by Mission Possible will be giving out free school supplies and backpacks (while supplies last), food, music, games, slides, and more!

Details: This event, hosted by Dream Center Dallas, is free and open to the public! They will be distributing backpacks, school supplies, and shoes for students to be prepared for the new school year. Learn more about the event here!

Where: Lincoln High School – 2826 Elsie Faye Heggins St, Dallas, TX 75215
Details: This free event, hosted by The Theta Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Theta Alpha Foundation will be providing students with free school supplies, free backpacks, free haircuts, and food for those attending Lincoln High School, Dade Middle School, Dunbar, Charles Rice, H.S. Thompson and MLK elementary schools. Sign up here!

Details: This free event will cater to underserved students in the Dallas area and provide free school supplies (first come, first serve). There will be local vendors, food, and free haircuts! Prepare for the upcoming school year at this fun event.

Where: Briscoe King Pavilion on the Island – 15820 Park Rd 22, Corpus Christi, TX 78418
Details: Bring your family out for a Party at the Briscoe King Pavilion for back to school essentials! There will be free food, drinks, popsicles, inflatables, games, prizes, haircuts, face painting, music, and more! They will be hosting a backpack drive where backpacks will be delivered the following week to Port A, Seashore, and Flour Bluff schools in need! RSVP for this fun family event today.

Details: This back to school event, hosted by LEAD First, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and CCISD is free and open to the public to attend! There will be free back to school items including backpacks and school supplies (while supplies last), information about health services, health screenings, and sports physicals.
