If you are exploring volunteer opportunities in Texas in 2026, the TEXAS YES Project offers meaningful ways to support students and schools throughout the year. TEXAS YES partners with Title I schools and community organizations to help expand access to education resources and create opportunities for students to thrive.
Whether you are looking for an ongoing way to give back or a seasonal volunteer opportunity tied to the school year, there are several ways to get involved.
Ongoing Ways to Volunteer
YES Reading Partners Program
The YES Reading Partners Program connects literacy and volunteerism to help children build confidence and a love of reading. Led by TEXAS YES staff and supported by community partners, volunteers spend one to two hours reading with students in kindergarten through fifth grade at local elementary schools each month during the school year. The program currently partners with Harlandale ISD, and participation is flexible.

Little Locker Project
The Little Locker Project provides books and educational resources to students and families through on-campus lockers at partner schools. Similar to Little Libraries, students and community members can borrow books to read and return. Many lockers include bilingual books, and during the summer months may also feature crafts and activities that encourage creativity. Volunteers can support this program by helping restock lockers or hosting book drives.
