After a year-long hiatus, SA YES kicked off the month of May with the relaunch of their annual fundraising initiatives – The Taste of Education Dinner (May 2) and Golf Classic Tournament (May 3-4). Through the generous contribution of event attendees, SA YES raised a combined total of more than $409,000. All money raised from the Taste of Education and Golf Classic will support the nonprofit organization’s “Back to Basics” program, Little Locker Project and fund YES Grants. The SA YES Taste of Education Dinner and Golf Classic was made possible through the support of Title Sponsor Thomas J. Henry and Presenting Sponsors, Spectrum Reach and Ancira Auto Group.
Following the success of both events, SA YES recognized the recipient of their YES Grant program, P.A.M. Media Outreach, with a check for $4,000 on Thursday, May 13. P.A.M. Media Outreach is an organization that teaches leadership skills to inner-city youth. By empowering teens throughout the inner-city and urban high schools of San Antonio, P.A.M. Media Outreach provides them with the opportunities to learn how they can make a difference and create positive change not only in their high school communities, but the surrounding communities as well.
The YES Grant program awards funds to support high school programs, groups, or projects with a focus around innovation, STEM, development of new science or math programs, and equipment. SA YES will be awarding up to $10,000 during the remaining 2021 school year. SA YES was established with the simple purpose of providing educational support through free school supplies, scholarships, and grants. Over the last 5 years, SA YES has shifted their focus to school supplies, grants, and providing access to books and art supplies.
To date, SA YES has provided free school supplies and resources to over 450,000 elementary students.
